It's all coming together ..

I cant actually believe it's only been a month (if that!) since I thought to myself 'you know what, I'd absolutely love to take photographs for a living' & this is how all of this came about, blog, website, bookings etc.

I was rather excited yesterday,  I'd revamped my website with my new colourful logo & a few recent photo's & voila a few hours later an email popped through requesting a booking. I was extremely happy & excited to say the least.  It really made me think I would love for this to be my day job.  How hard can it be doing something that I absolutely love?

Going back to the booking in question, it's for 3 female teenagers at a local country park. They'd like some pictures taken to give to their Mum as a Mother's day present.  What a great idea!  I've always been used to photographing small babies & toddlers so this should be challenging, but hopefully not too challenging!

I've got my kit ready to go & full of ideas.  I just hope the beautiful sunshine stays out!

Well I best get a scoot on but couldn't contain the excitement!!

I'll let you know how it goes,

Katie

Wonderful Stuff

Good morning,

I'm writing this blog off my lovely new Mac with a 23 inch HD crisp screen :-). I purchased this beauty from a nice guy off the Talk Photography forum.  I'm very, very happy with it & it was a good bargain!  I've always been a windows person so it's all a learning curb for me.  However,   I've found out how to load the internet so that's a good sign surely?!

Now I've got my computer set up in place I plan on cracking on with my  I plan on cracking on with my pictures, blog & website for my future photography work.  It's just a shame that summer is fast approaching, I should've done all this over winter!

My Mac has came loaded with Aperture & Light room which I've heard good stuff about so I shall be giving them a run very shortly.  I've heard a lot of fellow photographers use Aperture/Light room for their day to day editing & then anything for the higher editing stuff, cloning, removing etc for Photoshop.  I do love Photoshop but it is a tad bit complex for simple things.  I'll let you know how I get on with all of the above in my future posts!

For now, I am off to enjoy the lovely weather whilst the sun is out!

My Passion for Photography!

Right, a couple of weeks ago I decided that I'm very serious about my passion for photography & that I'd love nothing more than to hopefully one day do photography as a full time career.  I currently work in a 9 - 5 job doing accounts, I do love my job but it just isn't for me long term.   Even the thought of Capturing those precious Memories as a 'job' makes me realise just how happy I can be!  I'd like to share my journey with you & I suppose that's why I started this blog!

So far I've put together my first website which I hope to build on as I gain further experience, you can view it here.  It's pretty basic ATM but we've all got to start somewhere!  I already own a Canon 1000D camera which I absolutely love! I also own the 70 - 200mm lens but I hardly get chance to use it really. I've heard a lot about the 'Nifty Fifty' on the Talk Photography website so that is now high on my purchase list! I was also recommended the 5 - in 1 reflectors which arrived a couple of days ago I just haven't got round to trying them out yet.  I can see they're going to be a great asset in my kit. I have the basics to get me started & by working hard I can only get better.

I'm going to start off shooting portraits, children & families & as I improve I'd like to get involved in weddings & events. Luckily I have a lot of family & friends to practice on, I've got a feeling they're going to be sick of me & my camera before long! :-)

I think that's given you a brief view on what I'm hoping to achieve.

Many thanks for reading,

Katie
